There are two types of document lamination: hot and cold. Here, we focus on each:

Hot Document Lamination

What is hot document lamination? Activating when the printed graphic meets a special, hot-roll laminator, the adhesive on the hot laminating film can then do its job. Reaching temperatures of up to 240 degrees, hot lamination is the preferred method of laminating documents, but some items (photographs, for instance) simply cannot handle the temperature. In this instance, cold document lamination would be the best method.

Cold Document Lamination

Using an adhesive that is sensitive to pressure (and doesn’t need to be heated), the cold document lamination technique makes use of rollers. These push the laminated sheets together, and this technique is generally much faster and simpler. It’s safe for a wealth of flat documents, too.
